This is a watch I have never seen anywhere else. Victorinox is best known for its Swiss Army Knives but also makes beautiful watches. This is a rather unique watch that I imported from the US in 2011. It is the Ambassador XL (241133).
The “XL” is well deserved as this is not a diminutive piece. It is 45mm in diameter, 55mm lug to lug, and 15mm thick.
This Swiss made watch has a Valgrange A07.211 automatic chronograph movement. This is an updated version of the Valjoux 7750, but improved for greater accuracy and a larger size to fit larger cases and ensure symmetry of the subdials. It beats at 28800, hand winds, and hacks. It includes a date complication. The three subdials show seconds, a 30 minute counter, and a 12 hour counter. You can see the movement in all its glory through the display case back.
What I love about this watch is the silver/white dial and blued second hand and subdial hands. They look stunning through the sapphire crystal. The silver numbers are applied and each has a lume dot. The bezel is polished with the case being brushed. There are a few minor scratches but as you can see from the pictures, this watch is in excellent condition and it runs like a top!
The lug width on this watch is a bit unusual. It is 23mm, so finding straps is not easy. However, I will include an unused black leather strap with an alligator pattern and a butterfly deployant buckle with this purchase. I will also throw in a brown strap with the same features and a small strap changing tool. Both straps are in their original packaging. Of course the watch comes on its original leather band. I replaced the original buckle with deployant buckle.
The instruction manual, blank warranty card and a handy guide to the movements in Victorinox Chronographs is also included along with the original box (inner and outer) and hang tag.
This is a gorgeous watch and I have mixed feelings about parting with it but need to sell to fund a new acquisition. It looks great paired with a suit or dressed down with jeans. You can’t go wrong with this watch.
According to the hang tag the MSRP was $1550 US. I am asking $750 CDN for this watch shipped anywhere in Canada with the two extra straps thrown in. I accept PayPal and Interac Direct Payment. I have sold on Ebay (deswayze) and CanWatchCo and have good references.
