I have for sale my 1988/1989 Rolex submariner reference number 168000 - commonly referred to as the tripple zero. A fantastic transitional reference that was produced between the reference numbers 16800 and 16610. While the caseback is stamped 16800, the case itself is stamped 168000 between the lugs.
The 168000 is effectively a 16800 however it sports the newer 904L stainless steel case as opposed to the older 314L stainless steel. This reference was produced for less than 1 year between 1988 and 1989.
Size: 40 mm
movement: cal 3035
bracelet: a newer reference 93520 with SEL - currently sized for a 6.9 inch wrist with 1 extra link included
box etc: a correct inner and outer box with pillow, booklets and hangtag.
I just had this watch serviced at "perfect timing" by Rick who is a fantastic watchmaker. The service paperwork will be included along with the timegraph read out which shows a current running time of -3s/day.
The watch has been polished at some point through out is life however it presents and wears extremely well.
Dial and hands: the dial and hands are thought to be original, both tritium with a slight patina forming. The hands are just slightly lighter than the dial.
The dial has began to fade slightly, presenting a lovely greyish look in certain lighting.
The watch and bracelet both show signs of wear but no significant damage/bites/chunks etc.
The bezel has a very crisp click to it when rotating.
