Today I have up for grabs one of the iconic diver's recreations from the Seiko Prospex SLA line - this model, the SLA033, is the true-to-the-original reissue of the iconic 6105 series of diver's best known for being on the wrists of Capt Willard in Apocalypse Now, and more importantly, Naomi Uemura, the legendary Japanese explorer. What makes this piece special is that it's assembled and finished in Grand Seiko's Shizukuishi studio - and this level of detail is present in the absolutely unbelievable level of finishing present throughout the case curves and dial furniture. I know Zaratsu is such an overused marketing tactic from GS but boy it really does shine.
This watch was purchased by myself about a month ago from CWC's very own renmnoyan through this forum. I absolutely love this piece and it represents a serious collector's item, however my financial goals for the new year have shifted such that I've decided to take some pretty big steps towards paring down some non-essential items to prioritize some other investments. So unfortunately this has become a catch and release that's only seen a handful of wears from me.
The condition of the watch is really fantastic - it presents really cleanly, and the condition notes are limited to hairlines and scuffs in the high polish case back, a few swirls on the flanks, and a scuff near 12:00 on the bezel lacquer. Condition rating numbers are arbitrary so please consult photos and ask questions.
This watch comes with the box, unsigned warranty card, papers, and all the little bits of paper and tags that nerds like us love - it's a truly full kit experience. The OEM strap will be included ALONG WITH a dark grey leather strap from Terrycrafted! Note that the StrapHabit tropic strap seen in some of the photos can also be included for an extra $40.
