Hi all, new member from up in Barrie.

Originally I wanted to buy myself a nice watch to celebrate a professional milestone. Although I stumbled on this forum and now have a tonne of watches I want.

Any advice for someone with no knowledge of watches until about a month ago would be appreciated.

Welcome!

My advice: don't buy cheap shit. Save up for what you really want. It's a good excerise in patience and gives you the time needed to really figure out if you love the watch or are just caught up with it.

Also, buy a Speedy.

That is all.

opposing advice to Pauli, buy some cheap shit to figure out what you like to wear, and than save up for the nice pieces you'll really enjoy.

Originally I was just looking for that one special occasion watch, drawn to the Seamaster and it’s probably what I’ll ultimately go for but I do also want to try other watches. A lot of the Longines and Oris watches stand out to me along with Grand Seiko.

Probably more drawn to divers at the moment but originally it was the Aqua Terra that I wanted, so who knows I think I need to do a little more digging!

Just realised I tried to quote and totally botched it.

Part of me wants to just go for the Seamaster but I see a lot of such good deals on here of watches I like so maybe I just split my budget among a few watches.
