Hi all,
New to this forum, and new to the world of watches! After doing some research I stumbled upon this forum and it seems like the right place for me.
I've been a collector of various things throughout my life. For quite some time I collected pinball machines, but unfortunately due mainly to the fact that I've moved several times in the past 5 years and have slightly limited space for the time being, that hobby has been on the back burner for a while.
I currently live on the north shore of Montreal, and from my experience with other hobbies, I knew that there is usually a great community of local enthusiasts if you know where to look! My search led me here, and I think I've found the place to get my feet wet.
I've been casually lurking from the sidelines and gathering some very basic knowledge, as well as trying to decide what my first real watch purchase will be. The only watch that I currently own is a Citizen Skyhawk that has been used and abused over the past 10 years. This is a watch that I've always worn and thought of as a work tool. As such, I don't normally wear a watch in my day to day activities or when I go out. I'm looking forward to changing that by purchasing some watches that I feel a bit more passionately about, and that I think of more in terms of accessories and jewelry, rather than just a tool.
For years my dream watch has been a 46mm Breitling Navitimer, and I've been going back and forth with whether or not I should just make this my first purchase, or if I should "save" this experience for a bit later in my journey. Haha. This forum has already opened my eyes to a bunch of different watches that I previously didn't have much knowledge of, and I feel like I'm already being pulled in multiple directions.
For now I'm keeping my eyes on the FS threads to find the first addition to what I expect will eventually be a modest collection of 6-12 watches. I look forward to getting to know a few of you here, and leaning on you for advice and expertise along the way!
