Up for grabs is one Ming’s most popular creations.
Winner of the “Horological Revelation” Prize at GPHG 2019, the 17.06 Copper edition sold out immediately, and maintains a cult following. Despite its discontinuation, it is still highly sought after and this piece is from the last year of production (2022)
The centre dial work, up close is reminiscent of a cobblestone pattern demarcating the centre of an ornate town square, while at arms length the true depth is revealed to showcase a radial lotus like pattern or a magnetic field representation as it plays with the light.
It is unlikely you will see one of these in the wild and is sure to have others inquire about what you’re wearing.
Powering the watch is an ETA 2824-2 Top grade movement that’s been modified for MING to remove the ghost date position.
The OEM Jean Rousseau matte tan leather strap is adequately padded near the lugs with white stitching for contrast.
The watch comes in at 38mm and features a push pull crown with a water resistance up to 100m
The watch is in overall excellent condition with a small area on the bezel at 1 o clock featuring some hairlines as well as on the clasp.
Warranty has expired recently in January, though the watch is running well at approx +3s a day.
