Up for grabs is a watch that requires more attention and praise.
The Defy 21 featuring an open work dial with blue as the dominating colour.
At first glance it can be mistaken for yet another El Primero; however the differentiation lies within the movement, an entirely new conceptualization by the brand.
The El Primero 9004 calibre features not one but two escapements; one offering a 50Hz (360,000bph) chronograph escapement in a movement that has a 5Hz (36,000bph) escapement for the time-telling mechanism, with 50 hours of power reserve.
The power reserve indicator at 12 showcases the chronograph reserve (50 minutes). To the wind the chronograph components, one winds the crown clockwise, and counterclockwise to wind the time-telling feature.
The 1/100th of a second chronograph hand is a joy to behold and while unnecessary for most, is a feature that is true to the racing heritage of the el Primero lineup.
Despite being a skeletonized dial, the watch is incredibly legible, unique and simply put, cool.
At 44mm it would seem to be large, but owing to a shorter lug to lug at 49mm, wears closer to a 42mm timepiece.
Overall the watch is in very good condition for the age and being titanium.
There are a few markings to the non crown case side and clasp; no dings or dents.
The strap is something of a comfort, as the blend between rubber and alligator is reminiscent of sporting luxe.
The watch received a full service in 2024, receipt included and during the service, the AD lost the card, which is being replaced and will be supplied to the new owner upon receipt.
A photocopy of the original card is included as well. The watch comes with the original box, thumb drive, polishing cloth, Timelab certificate, wallet, manual, copy of the original receipt and service receipt.
