Background
- A very 70s Swiss chronograph with a 17 jewel pin-lever EB 8420-74 chronograph movement (same movement used by Heuer, Leoniadas, Sicura, Sorna, et al... in affordable 70s chronos).
- Find out more about the EB 8420-74 here.
- It's funkier and better provenanced cousins seem to command some high asking prices (Jacky Ickx Easy-Riders).
- Running well on bench and wrist, keeping good time and chrono works as expected.
- By my guess, someone has been in it semi-recently due to the case back gasket still having gasket silicone on it.
- Chrono pushers:
- Bottom = start/stop (doesn't restart, a one-and-done movement).
- Top = reset (can be pressed to "reset and stop")
- 10'o'clock subdial is a 15 min register for the chrono; clock seconds at 6'o'clock.
- This is branded a "Splendid" by "ILONA Ltd" (which I'm sure had centuries of Swiss watching-making heritage).
- Bi-directional bezel rotates freely.
- The strap is a Montreux FKM (and if you don't want it, take $50 off the price).
- This is an "oopsie" auction find that I tossed a bid on and won; not a keeper for me.
