Hey CWC
Up today I have one of the most prolific modern releases in the GS lineup, my SLGH005 aka “The White Birch”
Most of us GS fanatics are aware of the inspiration the artisans at Grand Seiko draw from nature and more specifically from the Shizukuishi area where the Grand Seiko mechanical timepieces are created.
This evolution in the Grand Seiko lineup is similarly drawn from the White Birch forest near the Shizukuishi studio which is mirrored in the dial work of the SLGH005 and mimics not only the forest but it’s confluence with the flow of time and the uniquely Japanese representation of Nature as Time - where time is considered to be a part of nature itself.
I’ve included a picture of the inspirational White Birch forest for fellow enthusiasts to compare against the dial work.
The dial is housed in a beautifully rendered 40mm case with brushed and zaratsu polished edges. Beneath the dial lies the mechanical 9SA5, 36,000 vph movment - the heart of this timepiece that yields a robust 80 hours ( 3+ days) of power.
Coming in at 11.7mm in thickness and an apparent 48mm lug to lug (on bracelet) this timepiece is very wearable for wrists between 6.4”-7.5”
Most people place art on walls and rarely access it daily.
One lucky individual however, can purchase this wearable artwork and have it adorn their wrist for decades to come - knowing full well you paid less than you should have for something of this caliber - $11,250 plus shipping or f2f in the GTA.
Wrist shot on a ~6.8” wrist
Few pics were left out in the upload - if anymore required, let me know
