Up for sale today I have a lovely L serial (1989) 5513 submariner. I bought this watch from the original owner (his name on the papers) only a few months ago.
THE LAST OF THE PLEXI SUBMARINERS ***
Cool story: I met this gentleman at his house to have a look at the watch pre purchase. When I got there, he opens the garage so we could have our chat in there as opposed to the house. As the doors open I see the back of a shiny red car. It was a dodge viper that he bought brand new in the early 2000s. Pretty neat. But that’s not all, As the garage door gets higher, I realize the viper is underneath a car lift. And on the top of the lift was a MINT Ford GT40 from the early 2000s. Of which he also bought brand new from a ford dealer in the GTA.
Needless to say, the guy was pretty damn cool. We chatted for a bit and he pulled out all the bits and pieces that came with the watch the day he purchased it. (everything but the hang tags)
What’s included:
Rolex submariner reference 5513
L serial (L5xxx) Dating the watch to 1989
Correct WGS tritium dial and hands with a nice patina, though the hands and dial do not 100% match patina wise. Hands are a tad whiter than the dial indices.
Correct MK5 bezel insert
93150 bracelet with clasp code of N11 (correct for 1989)
580 end links
10 links total (2 removeable)
Inner box with pillow etc
Outer box (with 5513 sticker and black dial sticker)
Papers dated April 1990 from an AD in the GTA
Oyster booklet
Submariner booklet
ORIGINAL INVOICE ($1300 CAD purchase price)
The watch is in very honest (THICK) condition. I am not going to say its unpolished, but just have a good look at the lug photos and the coronet on the clasp. Its THICK AND SHARP. The chamfers are quite lovely.
There are wear marks on all 4 sides as well as the bracelet + clasp.
There is a ding in the bottom left lug which you will see in the photos. The original plexi has some marks and wear on it. No cracks of course.
Service history is UNKNOWN- It is running well as I have worn it for a few months full time. But I would say a service should be done in the future just for general upkeep. I don’t think its needed in the immediate future. (though I do not have a time graph, but optically on the wrist I have not noticed a deviation in time)
I don’t think I am missing anything but please feel free to reach out and chat.
I am offering this watch for $14900 (shipping to be discussed) always F2F preferred but flag ship is fine as well.
( A naked L serial 5513 sold this past october on the rolex forum for over $11000 USD. ($15700 CAD)
I will post more photos in the comments when the post is approved.
I am open to reasonable offers and interesting Rolex trades only.
