One question you should ask yourself at this moment...

1) How do I get a historic reference predecessor to a vintage automatic Rolex Daytona without losing my shirt?

Answer: The Tudor Big Block 9430/0 has Rolex DNA written all over it and is fully Rolex branded on the caseback, crown and bracelet. This was the first automatic chronograph released by the Wilsdorf Group. The automatic version of the Daytona would not be released until 12 years later.

Up for sale is my beautiful Big Block 9430/0 Panda dial. On the forum I have only ever seen later 79160 references which carry a lower price point. This is a rare first series model and other than the missing little manual, it is a complete kit otherwise. It resembles the Daytona 6262 in design with its iconic engraved all steel tachymeter bezel. Serial number dates it to 1981. It was sold in 1982 with warranty carrying until 1983. The little booklet can be sourced, original papers cannot and this baby has it all! Outer box, inner box, hangtag, branded polish cloth, original Tudor warranty and original sale document with purchase information, and the little document holder that keeps it all. The watch keeps time right on tune with my phone clock, has full 12 links on the correct reference Rolex branded bracelet with Monday to no stretch. Later references had Tudor branded bracelets. This watch has a fully Rolex branded caseback, holes case for easy strap swaps and Rolex triplock crown and lockdown pushers. Condition is excellent with almost no marks to bracelet or clasp and normal wear to the high polished case sides. Crystal and bezel are mint with no chips, dents or cracks visible, dial is an immaculate untouched silver with tritium markers. The black subdials are grooved and reflect light like tiny little records which play wonders with the light The chrono hand resets to 12 o clock without issue. Inside the case beats a modified Valjoux 7750 workhorse. These babies start at around $10k US naked. This 99% full kit can be had here for $11.8k. No duties, no import fees. Beautiful historic and rare reference here. Maybe the only one you'll ever have an opportunity to hold.

Cheers!

Nuno
