Part of the Heritage Collection, up for sale is my 44GS 55th Anniversary Limited Edition SBGP017. A show-stopper of a dial features overlapping & highly textured clouds (inspired by the “Sea of Clouds” in Shinshu) in a stunning light blue that changes tone with the surrounding light. Of note:
  • Case is 40mm in diameter
  • Lug-to-lug is 46.2mm
  • Case is a mere 10.7mm thick
  • The display case-back, unique for a quartz, shows off not only the LE (this piece is numbered close to the end of the production run of 2,000 pcs) but also the 9585 movement, which looks surprisingly cool
This piece is accurate to +5 to -5 seconds a year. A YEAR! This is signified by a well-earned small gold star applied above the 6 o’clock index. This iteration of GS’ 9F85 calibre boasts:
  • A time difference adjustment function allowing the hour hand to be moved without hacking the seconds hand, preserving its high precision when changing time zones
  • A backlash auto-adjust mechanism that eliminates any shudder in the seconds hand.
  • Date-changes in the blink of an eye.
  • A twin-pulse control motor that allows the minute and seconds hands to be longer and thicker so that the exact time can be read with ease
This is not only a beautiful grab-and-go piece that looks as sharp with jeans as it does a suit, it’s also the watch that you’ll set the time on all your other watches by.

I’m the second owner of this piece and it’s in mint condition with a few light hairlines on some of the Zaratsu-polished surfaces that are only visible up-close and zoomed-in. No dents, no dings, bracelet has minimal wear, all links are included, lugs are clean as bracelet has never been removed - all of this the result of light rotation and careful wear.

Warranty to 2027, this is a partial kit that at the moment includes a warranty certificate (printable PDF) rather than GS’ plastic card. (The card is trapped in transit, and will be forwarded to the buyer at my cost, upon arrival.) Note: Grand Seiko confirms that once the watch has been registered, it is not necessary to have the card in your possession (or at all) in order to get warranty service. This watch’s registration has been activated, and can be found GS’ website (see images).

Please see the images for the kit contents and condition of the watch (a few more pics will follow).

Comps include WatchCharts at $4,691 as of Nov 27, 2024, and Chrono24 pegs mine at $5,372; there are 7 in total on .

Yours for $3,999 + ✈️ or F2F in the GTA
