Hey folks
Up for grabs is one of my favourite configurations of the El Primero.
Zenith was the first manufacture to utilize an open heart dial design on a chronograph watch and they do so with panache, paying attention to the minute details of framing for the cutout and blued screws to secure it in place. While there are an excessive parts viewed through the cutout, of prominence is the escapement, fourth wheel, balance wheel and the Zenith star shaped escape wheel.
The El Primero EP4061 is an upgraded version of the original El Primero automatic calibre, that is fitted with a silicon escape wheel and pallet lever that require no lubrication, allowing for longer service intervals.
This example is 42mm x 13.2mm thickness x 50.8mm lug to lug.
The lug width is 21mm and with more brands supplying them, this would look entirely snappy on a taupe or blue leather Saffiano or Ostrich strap.
The grey and blue subdials stand out in most lighting with the sunray dial provides a subdued canvas for an otherwise highly detailed dial.
The attention to detail is what sets the brands apart from others in its price point as the beveled edges along the clasp flow seamlessly as an echo of the beveled edges on the case flanks.
The watch comes as a complete set from 2021 and is in overall excellent condition that runs at a staggering +2s/day
I’m setting this one to fly at $6899 shipped from the GTA
