1944 Rolex Oyster Observatory Chronometer. Serial number 283325. 33mm across (including crown), 38mm long (including lugs). These small size Rolexes were originally marketed for miners, fishermen, and lumberjacks. As such, they were very popular with service men during the war. It is in good condition with its original 24 hour dial. The case is in good condition and doesn't show any base metal through the gold plate. The Rolex Crown screw down crown has lots of grip. It keeps very good time and it was apparently serviced recently. This watch has a manual winding 17 jewel 6 position movement. The strap is a good quality leather Hirsch Crocograin. The box is from Harrod's London. It is difficult to find these small Rolex Oyster watches in good condition. This one is really sweet. $1400.00 This includes insurance and tracking in North America.
